| Employment in dentistry is expected to grow about as fast as average for all occupations through the year 2014. Most jobs will result from the need to replace the large number of dentists projected to retire. Job prospects will be good and the demand for dentists will continue to grow as the population ages and requires more dental care. Most dental programs in Australia are offered at the undergraduate level, meaning that student can apply for entry directly from high school. Canadian and American students who have partially or fully completed an undergraduate degree, however, can also apply to these Bachelor level programs. Two exceptions are the University of Sydney and University of Melbourne, both offering graduate entry options. Programs range from 4 to 5 years in length.
