Education and Teaching Degrees at University of Western Australia

Education has been a keystone of University of Western Australia for more than 90 years. From the early days there has been a clear sense of purpose and a commitment to the preparation of well-educated and well-trained teachers. Over the years, the Master of Education degree and later the Doctorate of Philosophy were developed. This environment was the genesis for the educational research activities of which the University is justly proud.

Today, the Faculty maintains a tradition of excellence while taking on the challenges of developing educational practices for both global and local needs. Our programs and research areas are recognised around the world. Through Performance Indicators in Primary Schools, we help schools throughout Australia assess the performances of their students in literacy, numeracy and phonological awareness. The Pearson Psychometrics Laboratory at University of Western Australia strengthens the internationally-recognised expertise in psychometrics at the Faculty of Education.
