Business and MBA Degree Programs at Victoria University of Wellington

 

The Faculty of Commerce and Administration at Victoria offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree options in the various areas of business and management.


At the undergraduate level, the following degrees are offered:

  • Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (BCA)
  • Bachelor of Business Information Systems (BBIS)
  • Bachelor of Tourism Management (BTM)  

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

 

Within the three year BCA, students can choose a single or double major in the following areas: Accounting; Commercial Law; e-Commerce; Economics; Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations; Information Systems; International Business; Management; Marketing; Finance; Public Policy.


The undergraduate degree also allows students to choose a second major subject from another Faculty, for example, a BCA in Human Resource Management and Psychology.


 

Within the four year BBIS, students specialise in Information Systems Management or Information Systems Development. The degree prepares students for business-critical information system roles. Students will graduate prepared for a successful career in business analysis, project management, vendor relations, IT sourcing, procurement, IT relationship management, consulting, business process management, IT architecture, IT service management, as some examples.


Postgraduate degree options from Bachelor’s with Honours, Master’s and PhDs are available in the following areas: Accounting; Business Administration - MBA; Commercial Law; Economics; Finance; Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations; Information Management; International Business; Library and Information Systems; Management; Marketing; Public Management; Public Policy; Strategic Studies; Tourism Management.


Research strengths in the Faculty of Commerce and Administration includes: accounting education; audit and governance – securing corporate accountability; communications; competitive advantage; customer relationship management; developing human capability; distribution channels; economic history; electronic commerce; exchange rate dynamics; financial incentives; information systems; innovation in New Zealand tourism; library and information management; local government strategic policy planning; macroeconomics with market frictions; monetary policy.
