What are the application deadlines? You should apply by the following dates to allow sufficient time to be considered for admission, as well as complete all other pre-departure processes: - October 1 for programs beginning in January
- November 1 for February intake
- February 1 for May intake
- April 1 for July intake
- June 1 for September intake
How soon can I apply? For most programs, applications are assessed as soon as they are received at the university abroad, however you cannot apply more than 12 months prior to the start date of the program. We encourage you to return applications and all supporting materials to the AustraLearn office early and accept your offer as soon as possible. The professional degrees have an early deadline, so please check the prospectus or the Degree Finder for your specific program deadline. What are my chances of being accepted? The universities make all final decisions regarding admissions. It is not possible to know in advance what the chances are of acceptance, as it depends on many factors; how many students are applying, the caliber of applicants, and the available slots in a program. This could vary from year to year. You should meet the minimum admissions requirements as noted in the prospectus before applying. Prospectuses are available to download through your MyLearn account. If you do not meet requirements, you will need to select another program. How long will it take to hear back from the universities? Typically, it takes about 4-8 weeks depending on the university and program. Most applications are assessed on a rolling basis. However, some professional programs are assessed all at one time, meaning it may take much longer than expected. What is the GPA requirement? GPA requirements vary by university. You will need to meet a 2.8/70% or higher for most programs. The universities will not be converting your GPA to their scale. They will base it off the grading scale provided on your transcript. For more competitive programs, a 3.0/75% or higher is going to be best. Can I apply to more than three universities? Just because we recommend you apply to three or fewer universities does not mean you cannot apply to additional universities. Please speak to your coordinator about this because you may not need to do so if we feel like your applications have a good chance for success. Do I need to pay an application fee and if so, how do I pay it? Check the Application Fee List to see if you need to submit an application fee. It is easiest to include your credit card number on the application, since the payment needs to be in Australian or New Zealand dollars. If you do not have a credit card, you will need to get a bank draft, made payable to the university in the foreign currency. Do I need to show that I am proficient in English? Find out more about the English proficiency requirements when applying. What do I need to include with my application? You will need to include the following items for each application you submit and send everything to AustraLearn: What is a certified copy? Certified copies of documents are required for specific universities. All New Zealand passport copies must be notarized, as well as diplomas for the University of Sydney. Transcripts do not need to be certified as long as they come from your university and are considered official. If you have only one document that you want to submit to multiple universities, you will need to obtain one certified/notarized copy for each university application. To do this, you will need to locate a Notary Public, take the original document (i.e. passport) and have them make a certified/notarized copy for you to submit. Check the phone book, banks, business services like Kinko’s and real estate offices. Photocopies, color copies and web printouts are not considered originals. Where do I send my documents? As your agent, AustraLearn maintains all contact with universities for you. You do not need to send anything directly to the universities. Our address is: AustraLearn Full Degree Dept. 12050 N.
