The Faculty offers a comprehensive range of programs in Education – undergraduate programs in early childhood, primary and secondary, a wide range of majors within the Master of Education and two doctorates including a professional doctorate in education. | PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Undergraduate: Early Childhood The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) will prepare you to become a specialist in the education and development of children from birth to eight years. Primary The Bachelor of Education (Primary) will prepare you for employment as a primary school teacher. Secondary The Bachelor of Education (Secondary) will prepare you to teach two teaching areas in secondary schools with a wide variety of teaching areas on offer. Graduate Diploma in Education Our Graduate Diploma in Education allows graduates of non-education degrees to obtain a teaching qualification in as little as one year. The study areas in this course reflect contemporary state policies and priorities, positioning it as an innovative and progressive qualification. Master of Education This one year degree provides you with an in-depth study of the contemporary practices of education and issues within the education profession. Some QUT Education degrees require students to complete extensive practical elements at local Queensland schools. As required by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act (2000) students must undergo a criminal history check and be issued with a ‘blue card’ before commencing field experience/practicum in an organisation where they may work with children or young people (under 18 years).
