|  The University of Newcastle offers a Master of Educational Studies. This program is intended for teachers and other educators who wish to gain postgraduate professional qualifications in a wide variety of educational contexts and to acquire or update expertise. This program uses an approach that blends theory and practice with an emphasis on applying research findings to best educational practices. It includes coursework with the option of a research strand consisting of a minor thesis with research methodology courses. The program duration is two semesters.

The University of Newcastle also offers a postgraduate Master in Teaching (primary specialization and secondary specialization) and is designed to provide professional teacher education preparation for suitably qualified graduate students who have sufficient course area studies to meet the needs of the current primary and secondary school curriculum. The program duration is two years, full time.
