| At UniSA's School of Education, we explore, teach about, research, create knowledge about and build capacities regarding: - methodologies/pedagogies for working with students of all ages in all such settings
- the contexts, purposes and outcomes of education in the various settings
- general and specific aspects of curriculum and carers and teachers work in these settings
- the processes of research, communication and advocacy in various settings
Also, we support, contribute to, and are linked with a number of research centres and groups both within the School, and the University. PROGRAMS The School of Education offers both 4 year Bachelor Degrees and 2 year Masters Degrees by coursework. All of these degrees meet the academic requirements for registration as a teacher in South Australia – widely recognised overseas. In our programs and our research we consider the education and care of: - children aged 0-8 and their families at home and in kindergartens, care agencies, childrens services and schools.
- school-age children and students junior primary, primary, middle and secondary.
- young people who are post the compulsory age of schooling, and are completing their education in schools and/or vocational and higher education settings.
- adults in vocational, higher education, community, and workplace settings where professional and continuing learning and development occur.

*these specialisations are only available by distance education | WHAT MAKES UNISA UNIQUE The Master of Teaching (Primary and Middle) is unique in that it has no competitors in South Australia and there appears to be no similar program in Australia. What makes it unique is that it covers two levels of schooling not traditionally linked: Primary schooling and middle schooling. This means students are generalists (as required for teaching in primary schools) and have two curriculum specialisations (from their first degree) enabling them to teach in middle schools up to year 10 and/or take a curriculum leadership role in a primary school. The Master of Teaching (Primary and Middle) also provides for a year long engagement with the same school over the first two professional experience placements – plus a mentor for the full year. The Centre for Research in Education, Equity and Work (CREEW) conducts numerous research studies in four broad areas. - Professional development
- Educational policy analysis/critique
- Learning/teaching/curriculum
- Workplace change/innovation
CREEW recently completed projects include: - New directions in VET policy and practice: Europe and Canada Researchers: Roger Harris and Michele Simons
- Design as a process: Primary teacher practices that encourage students to work technologically through design Researchers: Yvonne Zeegers & Denise MacGregor
- Pedagogical practices in mathematics and science that assist student transition in the middle years of schooling Researchers: Yvonne Zeegers, Bruce White & Ian Clark
