| The Bachelor of Education at University of Tasmania prepares students to work as teachers of children from kindergarten to grade two (early Childhood) or grade three to grade six (Primary) in Tasmanian schools, or equivalent grades in other systems. Graduates will have gained skills in teaching all curriculum areas for which a primary or early childhood teacher is responsible, and will be eligible to apply for Teacher Registration in any state in Australia, and many overseas countries. Liberal Studies Bachelor of Education degree students are required to choose six units offered by any School within the University, to complete the Liberal Studies component of the degree. Any prerequisite study must be satisfied, and units can be chosen in consultation with the course adviser. The purpose of Liberal Studies is to assist students to gain broader knowledge and expertise within an area of interest, or an area that complements study in the core degree units. Career Opportunities Education graduates are able to teach in all government and non-government school systems in all States of Australia with a number of graduates each year taking up teaching appointments overseas. Graduates are also equipped with generic communication and organisational skills allowing them to undertake work in non-school-based areas such as: - Industry or commercial training

There are also opportunities to study beyond the initial degree by completing an Honours degree, a Graduate Certificate, a Masters degree or a Doctoral degree in Education.
