Medical Degrees in Australia

There are two types of Medical programs in Australia:   Undergraduate Entry and Graduate Entry. If you have already completed a bachelor's degree, then you are eligible for Graduate-Entry Medicine programs. The programs are four year duration. You can apply to an Undergraduate Medical program directly from Secondary/High School. The programs are five or six years’ duration.   GRADUATE ENTRY MEDICAL SCHOOLS There are two pathways to apply to Medical School in Australia. Some universities require students to apply through the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), and others allow students to apply directly through AustraLearn.   ALL STUDENTS SHOULD CONTACT AUSTRALEARN TO BEGIN THE APPLICATION PROCESS.   Students must have completed a Bachelors degree and provide MCAT scores. Before you can be considered for licensure by one of the Canadian regulatory bodies to practice medicine in Canada, your basic medical knowledge must be evaluated. In most cases, this means that you must pass the Medical Council of Canada’s Evaluating Examination (MCCEE). The examination is held four times a year, in various centres in Canada and abroad. Before you are eligible to write the Evaluating Examination, you must complete all the requirements to obtain the qualification of Doctor of Medicine, or equivalent, from the university that granted your medical degree. For more detailed information about transferring your overseas medical qualifications back to Canada, contact the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) at http://www.mcc.ca.

In general, foreign trained doctors will need to complete their residency in the US and you will take a different board exam for students who have attended a foreign medical school. For further information, check with Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates at: http://www.ecfmg.org/

The Gold Coast has been very good for me! Honestly, if I could write down 10 things that I would want in a med school, Bond has 11.
