|  The University of Otago is New Zealand's first university, established in Dunedin in 1869. The University of Otago has a strong reputation for excellence in the areas of human health and medical science, stemming from the establishment of New Zealand's first school of medicine in 1877. WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM UNIQUE The University of Otago is the only New Zealand university to offer a degree in Dentistry, and one of only two to offer degrees in Pharmacy, Medicine and Physiotherapy. Otago also offers the benefits of a national presence with Schools of Medicine and Health Sciences located in Christchurch and Wellington, in addition to the Dunedin-based schools.
