LOCATION

Founded in 1836, Adelaide is the capital of South Australia and is an elegant, well-planned city of wide streets and boulevards, squares, parklands, and a mixture of historic and modern buildings. It is flanked by beaches and the Adelaide Hills and is close to world-famous wine regions.
 

With a population of 1.3 million, Adelaide is a cosmopolitan city with many festivals and a vibrant café culture. Adelaide enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cool winters.
 

South Australia has a great variety of landscapes to explore outside Adelaide. The Barossa Valley, a world famous wine region, is 90 minutes from the city, and Kangaroo Island an hour by boat from the mainland, has pristine beaches & abundant wildlife. The Adelaide Hills within 30 minutes of the city, has lush farmland, historic towns and unspoilt bushland. Further afield are the Flinders Ranges with spectacular natural scenery: Adelaide is considered to be the gateway to Australia’s Outback.

UNIVERSITY LIFE 

Participating in the extensive range of clubs and sports at the University is an excellent way to meet people and make friends with local students. The University offers almost 40 sports and has a fitness centre with strength fitness and resistance equipment. Classes such as aerobics, yoga, cross-training and dancing are also on offer. Qualified gym instructors are available to provide expert fitness advice.
 

The University also has 80 special interest clubs including the wine club, debating club, film club, environment collective, philosophy, photography, choral society, chess club, many religious and spiritual clubs, political clubs, and language clubs 
 

The International Student Center provides opportunities for international students to interact with local and other international students through its Language and Cultural Exchange Program, as well as ongoing social activities throughout the semester (morning teas, BBQs, lunches). StudyAdelaide, a South Australian Government body which is responsible for international students studying in Adelaide, runs many activities during the year for international students, including trips to regional areas such as the Yorke Peninsula, attending football games and other sporting events, advice on volunteer opportunities etc.
